Mojito BBQ chicken recipe


The classic Mojito is a beautifully refreshing cocktail for those warmer days (or any day for that matter!) and is the perfect accompaniment to any outdoor occasion, especially a BBQ.

So to help you celebrate National BBQ week and add a twist to the standard BBQ grub, we’ve shaken up the classic chicken wings with the cool and refreshing taste of Mojito, named Mojito Chicken Wings! (Catchy right?).


  • 25ml white rum
  • 100ml Funkin Mojito Mixer
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne powder
  • 1 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 kg fresh chicken wings


1. Combine all the ingredients except for the chicken into a large freezer bag. Mix with hands until well blended and combined. Add in the chicken and shut the bag securely. Move the chicken around in the sauce until coated and store in the refrigerator overnight (preferably 12 hours minimum.) Flip the bag every so often to ensure the marinade is covering the chicken equally.

2. When time to cook, place the wings on a preheated grill (low to medium head), turning occasionally (25-30 minutes), until the chicken is well browned and no longer pink.

3. Add a squeeze of fresh lime, serve immediately and enjoy!
