Cocktails in the City has been growing in number of attendees as well as touring cities for a number of years now. The audience and bars that it attracts resonate perfectly with Funkin as they are those who know and love good quality, exciting and innovative cocktail experiences.
The event attracts the UK’s most influential bars and restaurants ranging from the cool and quirky London Cocktail Club, to some of Mayfair’s finest such a Hush and Novikov, who have partnered with some of the world’s most premium brands like Crystal Head Vodka, Makers Mark Premium Bourbon and Patron Tequila. With most of the industry leaders attending (Diageo, Maxxium UK, Pernod and Bacardi), we felt in great company.
The partnership with London Cocktail Trading Co. was a no brainer as we had already worked very closely with the guys from LCTC on our drinks and product innovation. We admire the creativity and excitement that the LCTC put into everything that they do.
Inspired by their newly opened East London venue beside the Flower market, it sparked the inspiration for our old school London market stall bar theme with our own market traders serving the drinks (sheepskin coats, flat caps and all).
Our signature serve was the ‘Eastend Dickey Bird’ based on a traditional English Bramble cocktail. For the Eastend Dickey Bird we were using Funkin Mixed Perry Puree, Funkin Pro Rhubarb syrup and Funkin Pro Pure Pour Lemon. The spirit of choice was Beefeater London Dry Gin provided by our good friends at Pernod Ricard, which tied in nicely with our traditional London bar theming. Once created the cocktails were then frozen and served as a slush in a bottle wrapped in a Funkin and LCTC stamped brown paper bag.
This time we were in the business of ‘selling’ flowers and bread from our stall, and on the next leg of cocktails in the city tour we will be ‘selling’ something else, so make sure you watch out for updates on our next appearance in Leeds (6-7th April).
