Rise of the beer cocktail

By their nature, cocktails are a mix of drinks. But, what if you're tiring of experimenting with spirits alone? Try beer! It really works.

A growing trend over the past few years, the concept has now moved way beyond a simple Boilermaker and into a pretty fine tasting and well-respected place. Just this week at Craft Beer Rising in London's Brick Lane, we met several brands blending beer, ale and lager into very cool cocktails. Check out our Facebook Live from 24th February for more on that.

In the office bar, meanwhile, we've experimented ourselves and bring you three Funkin cocktails to try at home. Cheers.:

  • 50ml tequila
  • 75ml Funkin Margarita Mixer
  • Lager of choice

How to:

Add the tequila and Margarita Mixer into a long glass full of ice. Stir well, then top right up with lager. Garnish with lime slice.

Happy Mitch

  • 6oz lager of choice (we love Modelo)
  • Funkin Bloody Mary Spicer (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Funkin Pure Pour Lime
  • 2 x 2" square cubes of watermelon
  • Salt

How to:

Rim a pilsner glass with salt. In a blender (or with muddling tool), combine the watermelon cubes and Funkin Bloody Mary Spicer (to taste) and puree until smooth. Add the Funkin Pure Pour Lime and stir. Fill the glass with ice cubes and pour in the watermelon mixture. Top up with lager and stir until all mixed together. Garnish with a watermelon slice.

Nuts About Stout

  • 75ml Funkin Sour Mix
  • 35ml Advocaat
  • 25ml Guinness
  • 15ml hazelnut orgeat
  • 35ml spiced rum

How to:
Shake all ingredients in a Boston shaker full of ice, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with crushed praline dust.
